May Day, AYC Art and a Surprise Guest!

Happy May Day All*!
(*note: may 1st, "may day" is a holiday here in Ethiopia, similar to Labor Day... I think)
Figured today we would catch up on BLOG artwork from two AYC Open studio featured artists...they will be working in the studio 2-3 days/week and also giving lessons to younger youth. Ideally, we aim to support (via provding the materials, workspace and market) a community of youth artists, and, in tern, the artists will provide art lessons (note to mention inspiration) for aspiring children and youth. By mid-summer we hope to have an exhibition ready for the Ethiopian Millenium that reflects life and culture in Ethiopia! It is our hope that this exhibit will be on display on the Web, in Ethiopia and beyond! For now you get small pictures...the following piece was done with oil colors...

Also today, we also thought we would post the thoughts of, depending on whom you ask, an AYC friend/enemy, his name is Jack. Jack is a seven month old savana baboon and here is was he thinks of AYC....
